Pupil Leaders
Intent
At Latymer All Saints, we believe in providing all children with a meaningful way to voice their opinions and have their views taken into consideration, especially surrounding decisions that will impact them. Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) states that children and young people should have a say in decisions that affect their lives and here at Latymer All Saints we enable children to have their voices heard by senior leaders which makes them feel empowered and valued.
Implementation
What does being part of the School Council / Prefect team mean for you?
- Develops member’s confidence, providing them with effective leadership and communication skills.
- Provides opportunities to gain first-hand experience of democracy (through our election and voting process) which falls in line with one of the Fundamental British Values.
- Allows for collaborative thinking and exciting ways to share ideas, from posters and fundraising to campaigns and missions.
How do the School Council / Prefects benefit our school?
- Fundraising for things that really matter to students, like equipment for lunchtimes or specialist clubs.
- Ensures all voices are heard and shared with other students and School Leaders.
- Gives students a positive outlet to express themselves and their beliefs.
- Supports the smooth running of multiple events such as Christmas Fetes and Movie Nights.
- Creates an atmosphere of respect and equality, where everybody feels supported and listened to.
